Shop Mechanic

Job Description

Provide troubleshooting, inspections, and maintenance, and repairs for heavy equipment fleet.



  • Responsible for repairs of heavy equipment, machinery, and vehicles.
  • Complete repairs Drivers and Operators place on list.
  • Track repair time on all jobs performed in order to adhere to estimated repair schedule.
  • Ensure highest level of safety and quality of repairs.
  • Comply with OSHA and all federal, state, local, and company rules and regulations.
  • Attend safety meetings.


  • Scraper mechanic a plus!
  • 2 years experience.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen.
  • Reliable attendance.

Supervisory Duties

  • This job has no supervisory duties.


  • Ability to read, comprehend, and apply information from parts manual and machine schematics.


  • Must be able to communicate in English with co-workers and customers as needed.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds intermittently.
  • Ability to walk/stand for long periods of time.
  • Can kneel, bend, climb, and reach as needed to inspect equipment.



  • Outside work exposed to various weather conditions (hot, rain, snow) and muddy ground.
  • Inside repair shop regularly exposed to hazards such as fumes, moving equipment, liquids, and lubricants.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
